Update from the committee - reopening

All,

We have completed our risk assessment process and subject to any further changes in government guidance, we feel that we are able to open the club in a Covid-19 secure way.

Our initial hope was to open on 2nd October, but changes in guidance from Boris's speech on Tuesday have yet to be passed to community centres and therefore the intention now is to hold the first club night back on 16th October with a further club night on 30th October.  Should anything come from government between now and then that impacts on our current assessment, then we will need to review - but as it stands, we should be good to go.

These two sessions will allow us to trial the risk assessment we have in place and the sessions will be subject to restrictions around attendance (details of which will be posted shortly). 

We will form an opinion around dates for November nearer the time - as in recent days, things have changed quite quickly - and what the rules are come November is anyone's guess.

I will post up the risk assessment that we have completed and allow members to contribute their opinion and see what changes we are proposing.  We will essentially have 4 tables per evening available for booking and details of the booking system we are proposing will be released shortly too.  The main aim of the booking system is to achieve fairness to members.

Each table will be subject to the current 'rule of 6' and masks/visors will also be required on site.

So, here we are. It's been a while - how are you? I bet some of you are like me, itching to get a game in, roll some dice and push some toys around the table. Well, as you know, we've only got 4 tables available on each club night so here's how it's going to work.

Around 10 days before each club night I'll post on the forums asking for people to let me know if they want a table for games. Please don't fill that thread up with asking for a game to stop it from becoming confusing and please only use that thread to request a table. The reason being that the tables will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and by posting on the forum means we have a time stamp for me to use and keeps things open so no-one can be accused of favouritism in giving X person a game over Y.

If you could post with something along the lines of [Person X] would like to play [Person Y] at [system] that would be great. It will help with table placements (Underworlds players don't need to be by the terrain, neither do Malifaux players, but it would help if the 40K players don't have to walk past the Underworlds players to get any terrain)

If you're trying to do something a bit different and maybe want to play a board game (the first one that came to mind when you were reading this was Pandemic, don't lie!) then don't worry, you can do that too. However we do have to keep to the rule of 6 so please keep that in mind - you will have only 6 players in the game.

If you miss being able to book a table on the first night back, don't worry - you'll have priority the following week. Just ask for a table as normal and if someone who played the week before asks as well, you'll be given priority.

This is a new system for all of us, so it is subject to change. The Golden rule is you want to be back, we want you to be back, book a table, have fun but don't take the piss.

       Gatekeepers Wargames Club Reopening Rules

The following are the initial changes and member requirements in response to Covid. These measures are subject to change, and changes will be communicated via the Gatekeepers Forum, but will also be on club Facebook, Discord, and WhatsApp groups, please check these regularly for updates.

Changes to Club:


    1. Only 12 members allowed to attend every evening.

    2. Gaming nights to held Fortnightly on a trial basis. Attendees must book their table the Gatekeepers forum in advance, and have their booking confirmed on the Forum.

    3. Maximum of 6 individuals per table, players at separate tables should avoid mixing.

    4. Terrain will be split into Labelled boxes. Please only use one box per board, and please be mindful of handling of Mats/terrain etc.

    5. The opening keyholder/committee member will set up tables to allow for minimum social distances, please do not move tables or put additional tables out.

    6. A nominated committee  member will require the details of anyone attending club, this is order to facilitate communication to members about any changes that may take place, and track and Trace. This to be kept for 21 days,  after which it will be deleted.

    7. A nominated Committee member will wipe down door handles, tables etc on arrival. Doors will be left open afterwards to reduce cross contamination.



What members need to do:
       
    1. Please do not handshake, after games for the time being.
       
    2. The tuck box is not used until further notice, attendees are welcome to bring their own drink/snacks as required.
       
    3. All members must maintain social distancing requirements, and be mindful of other peoples space at the venue. Please do not come to club if you haven’t got a booked game.
       
    4. All members must wash/sanitise hands on entry, and should continue to do so regularly.
       
    5. Members must bring all their own dice, tape measures etc. Attendees may not touch other players items without permission.
       
    6. Members to wear face coverings whilst attending club. (Unless a medical exemption)
       
    7. At no time does anyone attend the club if they are exhibiting any symptoms, or any member of their household is displaying symptoms.
       
    8. Subs will be increased to £3.50 per night, Subs can be left on your table for collection. It is also possible pay via online payment if you choose, more details regarding online payments are available on request from the Treasurer.
